The UK government is teasing a new “AI Hardware Plan” as it eyes a 5% share of the growing AI chip market, starting with £100 million in hand for British chip startups.

Tech Secretary Liz Kendall said the hardware plan will be rolled out at London Tech Week in June, as part of the government's plans to build a £37 billion ($50 billion) revenue chip industry in the UK – 5% of a potential trillion-dollar market.
