CIA chief calls for “radical shift” in how it buys and rolls out technology
Centralised vendor vetting and a "streamlined IT authorization process"
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is overhauling how it buys and rolls out technology as part of a “radical shift” its director John Ratcliffe said today.
That includes a new “streamlined IT authorization process” and a shift to “centralized vendor vetting” the agency said today (February 9).
The steps are part of efforts to “accelerate and streamline [the] CIA’s collaborative efforts with U.S. commercial partners to harness the cutting-edge innovation of America’s private sector” the intelligence agency said.
This, it added, will “significantly reduce the time between when CIA defines a mission requirement and when it receives operating authority.”
